My thoughts

This is perhaps one of the weirdest, and one of the best stories I've read in a very long time.

I LOVE THIS BOOK SO HARD!!

The story is brilliant, funny and wonderfully executed.

Marie is fed up with the dating scene especially after a bizarre and embarrassing first date with someone she met online.
She believes that "Men - are plagued by FOMO, fear of missing out. Fear of missing out of the supermodel-playmate sex fiend who loves to cook, clean, and do laundry while working a high-paying job and waxing like a porn star. This is what men in their thirties want and expect."
So much so, that she's researching different ways to fulfill her need for companionship and intimacy without the hassle of putting herself out there in the brutal dating scene.

Penny Reid takes her readers on Marie's wonderful, and unique journey of the discovery of possible alternatives.
After all the data has been collected, Marie finally comes to a conclusion of what she wants and what she's not willing to settle for.

I absolutely LOVED this story!

Synopsis

There are three things you need to know about Marie Harris:
1) She’s fed up with online dating,
2) She’s so fed up, she’s willing to forego the annoyance and consider more creative alternatives, and
3) She knows how to knit.

After the most bizarre and irritating first date in the history of human kind, Marie is looking for an alternative to men. With the help of her friends, she quickly identifies a few possibilities:

Need a cuddle? Use a professional cuddler. Need affirmation? Get yourself a life coach. Need an orgasm? Try orgasm meditation! Why does she need the hassle of a romantic partner when she can meet all her needs with paid services?
But then her irritating date resurfaces. And he’s not at all the person she thought he was. And he suggests a different—and crazier—solution to her dilemma . . .
As everyone knows (or will soon come to realize), traditional relations between humans are a thing of the past. Robots are our future. And if robots are our future, then why do we need other people at all?
