I just want to start out by saying that I was a little skeptical about reading this story (hence the reason it took me forever to give it a go). The reason being the mixed feelings/reviews towards Sylvie. Some people hated her, while others thought she was "d'bomb".
I'm going to have to say that my opinion lies with the latter group.
She was like no other female lead KA has written before and because of her up-bringing and her tragic past, Sylvie's "badassedness" TOTALLY worked for me.

I loved this amazing tangled tale Ms. Ashley weaved.
The characters had depth, and I was engaged right from the beginning. I find with each book KA writes she just gets better and better. One thing I really appreciate about her writing is that she always finds a way to incorporate "my favorite" characters from her other series', and this book was no exception (loved seeing "Hawk").
Creed & Sylvie together were volatile, amazing, heart-breaking, and extremely intense.

I loved the past they shared (the first 11 years together), as well as the history and their experiences that made them into the characters they are today.

The passion they had for one another was..

... and one my favorite things that Creed said to Sylvie was, ".. and bring the oil"

Creed was... amazing!
His loyalty, dedication, protection, and love for Sylvie was incredible to read and a wonderful thing to experience. The reader got the absolute sense that these two characters were just barely surviving without one another, and that they both needed one another just to "breathe".
They both realized at a very early age (Sylvie 6, and Creed 11) that they were "the one" for each other, and due to circumstances (and people manipulating their lives) it took them 16 years to get back to each other and finally know the incredibly tragic truth about what really happened all those years ago.
I absolutely LOVED this story, and I'd like to also point out that I REALLY liked the extra splash of eroticism, and bdsm Thank you for that Ms. Ashley!
